Year 3/4βs mystery challenge…
You were asked what the picture was… I can now reveal it was the beginning of a waspsβ nest in my garden shed!
If you look closely, you can see the eggs in the little cells.
The queen builds a thread out of wood and saliva that hangs from the ceiling or a branch.
She then builds the cells for the eggs and an outside layer to protect them. The nest often ends up looking ball shaped.
Well done to Max, Kaylum and Luke who all had a really good guess! πππ
